The second half of Bone Play began with The Mortal Coil Shuffle, which we went back and filmed after the production closed. Filming by Ted Rosenblum and Tracy Kerr. Skeletons painted by Lauren McKee:

As one of the playwrights for Bone Play, I wrote several vignettes and created the characters of the DOCTOR and the PATIENT. Click here to read one of these vignettes, which fell at the beginning of the second half, right after the Mortal Coil Shuffle.

Searching for Meaning

Researcher/Playwright

  • 42 Theatre Artists
  • 12+ Countries
  • 1 Question:

How can we make art within capitalism that is

     collaborative and efficient

     relevant and provocative

     accessible and equitable

while also being sustainable  for the artists?

This is a play that is not a play.

It is research that is un-academic.

It will confuse you. It will delight you.

Parts of it might even mean something.

Forty-two multidisciplinary theatre artists from around the world talk about our industry through the lens of devised theatre in this interview-based work.

Tap Dance

The Highland Fling is a classic dance created by Eddie Brown. We put it to some fun, slightly non-traditional music...

A short dance choreographed by Michele Dunleavy to the song "Keep Your Head Up" by Preservation Hall Jazz Band.

The same Highland Fling as before, but this time performed in a round!

The beginning of the Eddie Brown Chorus, also created by the legendary Eddie Brown.

Devised Worldbuilding

  • What worlds await discovery in the theater?

Over the course of two weeks using scenic elements left in the theater and assorted props (including a teddy bear named Tie Line, two giant wooden spoons, and a number of hand bells) three performers built a world of magic and mystery.

Every night we walked into the theater with a blank stage, and every night we improvised our way into characters and a setting that continued to grow and evolve each time we met.

There was rhythm. There was movement. There was stillness. And the characters never once said a word.
